IDEA Space is a program of the Seattle Chinatown International Preservation and Development Authority (SCIDpda). We were create in 2008 as a resource center for residents, business owners, and stakeholders of the Seattle Chinatown International District (CID) to work on community development projects.
Works with community members to improve conditions for the local businesses and the commercial corridor as a whole.
Helps community members plan for and implement aesthetic improvements to the neighborhood.
Helps community members to coordinate and implement strategies to improve public safety in the neighborhood.
Helps property owners and developers jumpstart their efforts to rehabilitate buildings and vacant properties.
Identifying strategies to enhance the neighborhood’s identity, improve visitor parking, ensure affordable commercial space for small businesses, and coordinate neighborhood activities.
IDEA Space, SCIDpda’s design and resource center, serves as a catalyst for spurring dialogue and mobilizing community members to participate in the decisions that will shape the neighborhood. Our multilingual staff is able to inform community members about neighborhood projects, collect their feedback, and ensure our community’s voice is heard. We also connect our community with the resources necessary to accomplish neighborhood improvement projects.
“From renovation of International Children’s Park to ongoing activation of alleys, IDEA Space has been instrumental in turning ideas and aspiration of the community into reality. It has been fortunate for my students and myself to be part of these projects.
